A lot of my clients either come to me saying they are not confident having their photos taken. Or they don’t come to me at all and remain in a state of … “knowing they need great imagery for their brand but are constantly putting it off and coming up with ‘other’ reasons to not have them done”.

There is no right time, no perfect hair style, outfit or timing. You just need to take the plunge, trust the process and get them done. Your presence online, for your business, is crucial to its survival, right now. Especially now, as there are tonnes of people starting new businesses and pushing themselves out there. The competition for online space is huge. You need to stand out from your competition. You may have many people in your sector and you are wondering .. “how do I stand out amongst all of these, more established, more professional, more confident, people”?.

Well, they may ‘do’ the same thing as you, but they are NOT you. It is this precious commodity which is fundamentally different to everyone else. So why not use it. You are you and no-one else is you. This is what you need to promote.

From an image point of view I am extremely passionate about helping my clients and successful solopreneurs, realise their worth in terms of using their image to push their business. You have something amazing within you, which no-one else has and there are people out there dying to meet you and buy from you. But if they can’t see you, you are denying them the opportunity of buying from you. I always say to people worrying about having their photo taken… that the people who love you, love you for who you are, the photos they see of you, are just you, and they love that. They won’t judge the photos as harshly as you will and neither will your clients.

I always look for the face behind a brand and can get nervous when I don’t see one. I am more likely to buy when I see the person whose business it is. It's like walking into a boutique shop and the owner is hiding in the back refusing to come out. I think we’d all be a bit suspicious about that!

I’m not saying its easy and it is very personal and challenging. I struggle with it, and have only recently started pushing my brand and identity out there. But since I did, I realised it wasn’t that scary. My tribe just see photos of me, the person they know, and not through the critical eyes that I have. Nothing bad happened and in fact it was a great ego boost to receive nice comments from people. In fact, the most engagement I get, is when I post photos of myself.

People love seeing people and engaging with them, so putting that face to your brand is priceless. No-one else can do that, you have the monopoly on your image, isn’t that great!
